Nurse Love Addiction – Review

Developed by KOGADO STUDIO and published by Degica on steam. Nurse Love Addiction or 白衣性愛情依存症 [Hakuisei Aijou Izonshou] in Japanese. Looks like your typical “cute girls doing cute things” yuri visual novel filled with moe and romance. It also has the touch of mystery and plot twist which really surprised me as I did not expect them at all. Nurse Love addiction has a total of 9 endings [bad ends included] for you to get which are determined by your choices you make in game. It should last you around 20 – 30 hours. As for me I took 20 hours to do a full completion of the game.

[I was provided a review copy of this game but it will never affect the outcome of this review]

Brief overview of the story

“The bitter-sweet love story of the white robe angels.”

Follow Asuka Osachi; a ditzy girl training to become a nurse at “Teito Nursing School”. A high school girl who lived life in a carefree, easygoing way while holding the nickname “Jellyfish Club Leader.” Experience the story of her and her classmates, as they discover love, medicine, and adulthood.

With their two classmates and teacher; Itsuki, Sakuya, and Kaede the white robe angel (as Asuka puts it), the girls will experience what it means to be an adult… and a nurse. They’ll laugh and cry together as they wade through this confusing time in their lives. From classroom lectures and nurse basics to on-the-site training. In hospitals where the death of people exist close by, Asuka and friends grow together as people, and then as nurses.

What fate awaits Asuka and everyone else within these three years?

Decide how Asuka and her friends will spend their 3 years at Teito Nursing School!

Thoughts On The Story

I did Oosachi Nao route first, and was pleasantly surprised, because of how the game presents itself to you as a sweet yuri visual novel but instead it has unexpected plot twists. So having mystery getting into the mix the plot gets shrouded in mystery instantly but has good foreshadowing of the plot and character backgrounds which makes it an even more enjoyable read. When I was playing through the routes I found myself very curious of the plot and it kept me guessing what is the plot? How are the characters connected to each other? What causes a specific event to occur? It kept me interested throughout the play through, It was something that I wanted to get more details on, and this game definitely delivered. And wow Nao is really a good little sister. 🙂 I would want a little sister like this.

As for the characters I like the protagonists the most which is Oosachi Asuka provably because her personality resembles me in a way and her character develops with the progression of the route and you can see how she grows to be a more mature person as a whole. She is a simple, relaxed, fluffy and somewhat sluggish older sister. She’s not dumb, but her memory could use some work. In general, she’s pretty much hopeless, but she has a knack for being loved by others. When it really counts, her ability to get things done and decisiveness shines through.

The story is detailed as it managed to answer most of your questions you have that you get on your mind during first play through and the school life is extremely accurate like our characters getting flooded with homework for summer. Do note that the routes are planned in a way that you have to complete all of the routes in order to witness the events unfold beautifully as it answers your questions slowly, route by route.

As I mentioned above the whole plot will be revealed route by route hence playing the game to full completion is recommended in order to understand the full story, as for the order of route to complete, I recommend this order.

  1. Normal end
  2. Kaede Route [Good and Bad end]
  3. Nao route [Good and Bad end]
  4. Itsuki Route [Good and Bad end]
  5. Sakuya Route [Good and Bad end]

This may look weird with Kaede route being the second, but I think you should do Kaede route second because her route feels like a fandics to me. It does not add anything to the story as a whole at all hence completing it second would be good so while going into the “true” story itself you will still have that element of surprise. Nao route would be third because her route sets the stage for the story, completing her route before Itsuki and Sakuya route will in turn let you understand the their routes more easily. Oh boy if you hate bad endings you should do your best to avoid them as Nurse Love addiction bad endings are messed up in a sense. Personally I enjoyed the bad endings as they are true in the physiological aspect of a human being except for Itsuki’s bad ending which feels a little far-fetched among all the other bad endings.

Audio and Visual Elements

I absolutely adore the artstyle used it is very eye pleasing and it brings life to the game with its beautiful colors. As for audio elements, Nurse Love Addiction nailed it as their soundtracks sets the mood perfectly like icing on cake. Especially those moments where you have to make hard choices and the intense soundtracks ques in perfectly and setting the mood. Oh yes not to mention that after completing specific routes you will unlock messages from the seiyuus of each characters congratulating you or hear their personal thoughts on the characters they voiced. Do give it a listen once you complete the game because it is quite interesting. Do note that the messages is only available in Japanese.

  • Branching story arcs and multiple endings depending on your choices.
  • Bittersweet love between blossoming young ladies.
  • Unique and well rounded characters.
  • Romantic illustrations featuring adolescent girls on their way to adulthood.
  • Unexpected and surprising plot points that will keep you reading until the very end.
  • The visual novel equivalent of ER: life, love and medicine.
  • Voice messages from seiyuus after completing specific routes!

To sum up 8/10

Will I recommend this ? Simple answer is yes. I would definitely recommend this visual novel if you are the type of person who likes yuri, extremely unexpected plot twist and nurses! Of course! It’s even in the title!

  1. Well written review explaining much of what makes the game good and worth Yuri fans’/the curious’ time.
While Kaede’s route is separate from the main plot it still had that sexy adult allure going for it and it’s worth checking out especially because it’s the least insane. I see you also agree that Sakuya’s route is the most likely “True Route”.

The game is also very nice to look at and the cast are likable and interesting.

This is another really good yuri visual novel from “The Year of Yuri (in) games” that is 2016.
